Medicare Mental Health Benefits

If you’re experiencing symptoms of depression, talk to your doctor about getting a depression screening. Medicare covers a depression screening once per year, and you pay nothing if your doctor accepts assignment. Medicare also covers other mental health services, so you can get the care you need. Learn more by watching this video from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

The Different Parts of Medicare

Medicare is health insurance for people 65 or older, people under 65 with certain disabilities, and people of any age with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis, or a kidney transplant. Breast Cancer Awareness Month - Early Detection Is Important

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each year, more than 200,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer, making it one of the most common cancers in women. In the United States, one in eight women will get breast cancer and of those, one in 10 will be under the age of 45. If you’re between the ages of 50-74, you should have a mammogram every year. If you’re on Medicare, this screening is covered at no cost to you. Early detection with a mammogram is key to fighting breast cancer. Talk to your doctor about when you should have a mammogram and watch this video from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) about early onset breast cancer and risk factors.
